What is that stuff fluoride!

1. Why do some people disapprove of adding fluoride to drinking water?

Some people disapprove fluoride in drinking because  high levels of fluoride can be very dangerous and can cause you teeth to get brown stains and sores in your mouth just like what happened to people in Colorado Springs in 1901. They got these sores and springs because there was high amounts of naturally occurring fluoride in there drinking water. Also some people believe that fluoride is toxic but they such misunderstood. Fluoride is indeed toxic but only in very large amount like in California. This is why some-people refuse to have water fluoridation.

 2. What would your position be on adding fluoride to drinking water and why?

Personally I would like to add fluoride to my drinking water. Fluoride has been proven to help decay in two main ways: It reduces the ability of bacteria in plaque to generate tooth-weakening acids, and it helps remineralize those tooth areas where acid attack has already begun.  . Also there is a lot of false material out there and they are telling us that fluoride is bad but all that is completely wrong. Also I believe it will benefit people because scientists have been studying it’s affects for over 50 years.

3. What technological advances in toothpaste had to be made before fluoride could be widely used in toothpaste and mouthwashes?

some technological advances had to be made in toothpastes because the fluoride would just not quit work yet. Sodium fluoride, isn’t very soluble in the presence of calcium phosphates, the abrasive used in most early toothpastes. So in order to use sodium fluoride they had to take out the calcium phosphates in order for the fluoride to not react.

4. What side effects of using fluoride in drinking water are of most concern to you? Why?

Side affects that concern me are that fluoride and cause you Bones to weaken and sometimes even the fracture rates increase. This concerns me because I would not want to have a broken bone again. Also fluoride in water could cause you skin to wrinkle at the age of 20 or 30 and you will look 60and who wants to look older than you really are. Another side effect that concerns me is that fluoride can cause you teeth to stain. this would stink because I would not like to walk around with stains all over my teeth.
